About Nick Renaud-Komiya

For over 16 years, I’ve helped organisations translate complex science, medicine and innovation into stories that resonate—with journalists, stakeholders and the audiences that matter most.

Nick Renaud-Komiya

My background in journalism shapes everything I do.

I understand how newsrooms think, what makes a story land and how to turn technical detail into clear, compelling narratives that cut through.

I’ve worked with a wide range of organisations—from global advocacy groups and pharmaceutical leaders to fast-growing healthtech and biotech companies—supporting them to raise their profile, launch products, and communicate with authority on sensitive subjects.

“Would a journalist cover this?”

Since beginning my professional career all the way back in 2012 as a news reporter – freelancing for UK national newspapers, before joining Health Service Journal the following year – I’ve always read the news with a forensic eye.

“Where did that story come from? Was this a simple press release rewrite, or was it the product of weeks, if not months, of digging? Why has the story been framed that way? Who benefits from this wording?”

This approach has guided me through my years as a news reporter and freelance features writer, then as a marketing copywriter and from there into PR and communications in the healthcare sphere.

That focus, combined with my desire to tell stories in a direct, creative and impactful way, is what motivated me to start NRK Communications in 2021.

Since then, I’ve worked with a wide range of organisations—from global advocacy groups and pharmaceutical leaders to fast-growing healthtech and biotech companies—supporting them to raise their profile, launch products, shape policy and communicate with authority on sensitive subjects.

Whether it’s securing national coverage for an antimicrobial resistance campaign, positioning a healthtech product with NHS decision-makers, or preparing senior leaders for broadcast and podcast appearances—I’ve brought a journalist’s instinct and a strategist’s mindset to every brief for the last 16 years.

As both an independent PR consultant and a professional working for several leading comms agencies, I’ve continuously strengthened my capabilities and media contacts to provide my partners and clients with the storytelling skills to communicate effectively.

Alongside my core media relations skills, I have a strong record in media training, communications strategy, content marketing and editorial nouse to equip my partners with the tools and storytelling techniques they need to succeed.
